There's a little private beach area near that cliffs where you can relax with your loved ones. Although the space is small, it is a great secret place to visit. Ocean Beach Chili Cook-Off June 23, 2012 Pictures on a nice day

The Ocean Beach Chili Cook Off took place over the weekend and the day was beautiful. There were 28 on our list but many cancelled or ran out of chili early. I personally voted for #17 which had venison in their chili.

We got to the line early at 10AM. Here were the prices. We both got the master tasters to try all of the chilis.

At 10AM, vendors were just starting to set up. It was a wonderful day.

We went back to the chili section to try more chili and it got crowded! We shouldn't have left...

June 17, 2012 - Not a June Gloom day in Ocean Beach

I don't work today because it's Saturday so I took our chow chow to the dog park in Ocean Beach. He got tired after 20 minutes of playing with other dogs. On our drive back home from the park, I was so happy it turned out to be such a great morning. Happy non-June Gloom day Ocean Beach! Come out and play everyone!

I went the the OB farmers market yesterday and saw the OB Chili Kick Off poster line-up. Thought I'd share. It's quite a list of bands playing next weekend!

Chili Cook Off June 23, 2012 (OB)

It's another June Gloom day and as I was driving home from work I see the banner about the Chili Cook-Off taking place in a couple of weeks on June 23, 2012. It is one of the biggest events in OB. Even though it was a gloomy day, seeing this sign cheered me up. You get to be the judge of who makes the best chili while listening to bands play on 6 different stages. Come to OB on Newport Ave. and check it out if you haven't before. It's happening in a couple of weeks from today.

Saving money by moving to Ocean Beach

My fiance and I recently moved to Ocean Beach from Pacific Beach and shacking up is really helping us save money for the wedding. Our new place is also very small so we had to sell some stuff and buy a few new items to maximize our space with storage.

Overall, we put out $40 for having to buy new furniture. That's not bad. I sold some stuff so we used that money to buy what we really need. Here's our spreadsheet:

Yesterday, my fiance and I walked down to the Sunset Cliffs (in OB) after a salmon dinner I cooked at home. Even though it's June Gloom, the view is still spectacular. A lot of couples sat on the cliffs to have a conversation. It was really romantic. One thing to note is when you walk down the steps from Narragansett Ave., watch out for the waves and time it right because you can really get splashed!
