Ocean Beach Restaurants

View from Sunset Cliffs blvd. (OB). Take your food to-go and sit here to watch the sunset.

Uniquely Different

Most of the well known restaurants in Ocean Beach are located on Newport Ave. This street also guarantees you a nice stroll because you'll be sure to find many antique and thrift stores to interest you as you make your decision on what you'd like to eat today. There are also a lot of options for dessert as well.

Every Wednesday of every week, Ocean Beach has a big farmers market on Newport Ave. with a band playing while you shop. So if you're in the OB area on Wednesdays, consider trying some of the food at the farmers market as well. They are delicious.

From All American burgers to Chinese food, you'll find a cuisine you love in OB.

Restaurants on Newport Ave.

Little Chef Chinese Food (known for great Chinese food)

This is great Chinese food at it's cheapest and best! Their prices have not changed for over 10 years. However, they only take cash. The portions are big and there are only 3 tables if you want to dine in. Most do take-out. The service is fast and the lines can sometimes get long to order but it's totally worth the wait.

OB Noodle House

Also known for great Vietnamese food like pho, they also have great happy hour specials. Try out an Asian beer with your meal. They have a bar where you can sit and eat your food as well inside. Pet can come here with their owners in the patio area outside.

Ocean Beach is a very beautiful place to take engagement pictures.

The Sunset Cliffs' views are breathtaking and meaningful. See picture below of an engagement taken in Ocean Beach.

Restaurants on Newport Ave.

Hodad's (known for great burgers)

Known to many as the best burger in all of San Diego, the line for Hodad's can go as far as a couple of blocks. Limited to seats, I recommend doing take out, separate shorter line, and bring the burgers to the beach to eat.

The Joint (known for great sushi and tapas)

Their sushi and tapas are awesome! They also have a bar in the center of the room. Make sure to come early because at 6:30pm they get really busy. This is the publisher's favorite restaurant in the town!

Old Town Restaurant (known for great breakfast)

This is a great place for breakfast! You can get a 3 eggs plate that includes hash browns and choice of toast for only $6. There is a variety of breakfast selections and the service is fast and great. If you're a single person dining in, they just suggest that you sit at the bar as space is limited and they get really busy on the weekends and holidays.

Bar-b-que House (known for great BBQ)

The barbeque here is so good. It's so underrated! You order at the cash register and then they call our your name when you're food is ready. This is definitely a great alternative to Phil's BBQ. I like to order the California Style Sandwich (onion rings inside)  with pulled pork.

Wednesday Weekly Farmers Market on Newport Avenue in OB

Make sure to not miss their awesome Farmers Market every Wednesday. It's the biggest farmers market in the state! It takes place from 4pm - 8pm only. They have flowers, fresh produce, clothing, hot foods like curry, baked goods and great bags.

They also have music playing from 4-6pm during the Farmers market. This is very unique to OB!

Coffee Shops in Ocean Beach

Starbucks on Newport Ave. (the only franchise coffee shop in town)

Java Joe's (permanently closed) is right next to Starbucks but there is no seating area. You can get smoothies, teas, coffees (of course) and other great drinks.

Ocean Beach People's Organic Food Co-op

We have a local organic grocery store that has full of herbs, produce, great grocery items and a hot deli section in OB. It's call Ocean Beach' People's Organic Food Co-op and worth visiting if you're the healthy foodie type. It's one of the best organic market you can find in San Diego.

O.B. Smoothie Bar & Subs

This a great place for acai smoothies and other fruit favorites! Located on Newport Ave., O.B. Smoothie Bar & Subs is small but it's a very popular place. One thing to remember is they only take cash! However, they also have an ATM inside so you can draw out money if you need. It's a bit pricey than your normal smoothie joint but the ingredients are fresh and delicious!
